Long Beach Island NJ or exit 63 off the Garden State Parkway (yes, I am a Jersey girl) is my escape, and has been basically all my life.
I have been vacationing there forever. My mother’s family had been vacationing there before I was born. In 1996 my parents purchased their second home in Surf City LBI. So, what used to be a 2-week escape every August growing up was now an escape I could run to at any time I desired.
The blue in the ocean, the sky, provides a calming and soothing feeling, promoting peace-of-mind and stress reduction. On a clear day, you can see so many different shades of blue in the sky and, at night, the dark navy/black sky with stars beyond the imagination.
This has always been my personal sanctuary and an environment that has inspired me. I cherish the image of my beach-escape bedroom: I love the blue accent wall, bedding that mixes in different shades of blue and creams, and the mixture of patterns that ties everything together perfectly.
It’s no wonder why blue is such an easy, go-to color when designing spaces with clients. It is a universal color for both men and women. It is both handsome and beautiful, strong and soft. This adorable blue settee is one of my favorite pieces from a recent project.
These clients were moving from an apartment into their first home, with a young son and a little girl on the way. It was a very exciting time for them but they struggled with where to start, and how to best make their furniture selections, since they were starting from scratch.
We were able to furnish their new space and created the spaces that they were craving. “Every single visitor we’ve had is amazed and loves what we’ve been able to do in a very short period of time,” Catie Rhodes says about her experience working together. The Rhodes now have a fully furnished home that they are excited to show-off to family, friends, and co-workers.
